[jadmin] Ubuntu 6.06; jabberd 1.4.3: "read error on coprocess"

Hi,

Can anyone suggest what to try next? This was fine on my old machine
and Ubuntu 5.

The problem comes when I try to register a new account.  The client
gives the message:   "There was an error communicating with the Jabber
server.  Disconnected."
