Which jabberd are you actually using? jabberd14, jabberd2? If one of
both, which version?

Most simple one is to authenticate against an internal user base -
which can be stored .xml files on your server or in some mysql
database.

LDAP authentication might also be possible, depending on which jabberd you use.
