[jadmin] File transfers and jingle.

Hi there.
In this message, please asume I know nothing or very little of jabber/xmpp
(wich isn't very far from the truth). That means that messages like "no, you
are plain wrong, its like this" will be greatly appreciated.

I've been thinking about file transfers. jep-0096 (File transfer) and jep-0066
(Out of band data) seem to address the problem. My "objection" to both
methods would be that 'out of band' seems to be pretty
firewall/nat-unfriendly, and a completely in-band transmission could put an
unnecesary strain on the server.

One of the things I liked about jingle is that it can 'search' for the best
way of linking the clients (either direct connection or stun or a proxy) and
open a two-way (possibly out-of-band) channel between the endnodes. Couldn't
that be applied to file transfer? Is it applied (or recommended to be
applied) to file transfer, and I haven't noticed it?

Cheers,

Zarrabeitia.

P.S: Thanks to all who replied to my 'jingle clients' question!
