[jadmin] portmap

ejabberd, which I installed from Debian "Etch" will not start, but there are 
no error messages in the logs and I do see it when I do "ps ax".  I can't add 
users or connect to port 5280.  Is it possible that ejabberd requires portmap 
and that what prevents ejabberd from starting properly is that I have portmap 
bound to localhost?

The only error messages I see are the result of using ejabberdctl.  I can post 
them here if that might help.  They are rather long.
