  Excuse my English language.

   

  I installed Jabber Server 1.4.2, but when attempt run the server, it leaves the following error:

  dsserver:/usr/local/jabber/jabber-1.4.2 # 20060503T17:34:52: [notice] (-internal): initializing server

  20060503T17:34:52: [alert] (-internal): io_select unable to listen on 5222 [88.2.179.217]

  20060503T17:34:52: [alert] (-internal): io_select unable to listen on 5269 [192.168.1.4]

   

   

  I have reviewed in the network, but the solutions that they give me are not good

Hi Albert,
the solution are two:
1- your firewall not accept listening on this ports
2- jabberd is already in use in your system (use "ps -ef" to view process) and then you need to kill the existing process before launch it again.
