We can't force any developer how to name her product. Peer presure is
the only way, and I am sure we have far more important issues to fight for.
I agree than XMPPD is pretty boring. But, also, a free riding for those
guys. If you have to choose a XMPP server for your enterprise and find
names like "WildFire" or "soapbox" along "xmppd" server, just guess what
server will be the first try :-). I know which I could open the homepage
first.
So, I understand the motivation to such name. That denomination will be
used by somebody sometime, soon or later. It is boring, but it is, also,
free marketing.
