Hi David,

 

Using this mail list will go a long way at helping you setup your Jabber
based server.  Also there are other alternatives for you based on the
Jabber protocols.  eJabberd, and Wildfire both should be looked at.  I
personally run Wildfire, which I think is an excellent XMPP based
server.  It runs on Java, and runs on most Operating Systems.  Take a
look at www.jivesoftware.org <http://www.jivesoftware.org/> , I think
you'll find that it will do everything you need.

Hello all,

I am looking for an alternative to commercial IM Server software.
Jabberd looks pretty good so far.  The problem is that when looking at
all the docs I see, they say that the windows port is not included in
this document.  Where can I find some info on the windows port?  I am
going to be installing on 2000 or 2003 server, is this ill advised, or
is there a better solution for me?  Sorry for the newb questions, but I
just don't see much info for windows.
