[jadmin] Jabber2 better than jabber1.4.x at recuperating lost peers?

We have 3 internal jabber servers running 1.4.3 on our WAN.  Some of
these wan links sometimes go down momentarily, causing the jabber
servers so stop seeing each other.  We have to manually restart the
servers for them to see each other again.  

We are wondering if upgrading to jabber 2 would help us in this respect.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
