My guess is that you have borked CyrusSASL installation.
For example Fedora has borked one... Maybe other distros.

Probably hard-configured for mail services only, other services simply
not working...
I've seen debug reports with "smtp" tokens in XMPP stream.

Could someone running Fedora check if it's the case?
