[jadmin] A starting guide

Hi.

Im rather new to this. Ive tried openfire, but it seg-fault all the time.
It is based on Java and my jvm crashes every minute. I only have 256 Mb of
memory and it seems like java takes it all and then complains about more
memory and then crashes. I just hate Java.

Now I found jabberd14, but I am not capable of setting it up.

Here is what I did:

apt-get instal jabber

(im running ubuntu)

jabberd is now running, I am jusing gaim and here is the parameters:

Server: localhost
Port: 5022
name: test

I click register. Get OK back

Both jabberd and gaim runs on same machine. So I guess localhost is OK.

When I want to chat Gaim says: Unable to resolve hostname. (code 502)

Is there anyone out there who would like to guide me or show me a link to
a setupguide if there is anyting in any jabberd config files i need to
change?

I guess just installing jabberd (which was the easy part) is not enough?
