If your server is not open for Internet incoming connections, it simply
cannot communicate with other, Internet XMPP servers.
XMPP server-2-server connection is bidirectional - one connection for
your_server -> other_server, and second, incoming other_server ->
your_server.

If your server is behind firewall/NAT you need to make a
hole/portforward for incoming connections, or it will simply not work.
