[Juser] Adding Jabber Contacts

My jabber ID is username at jabber.anywise.com and I am trying to add a
contact located at username at jabber.hp.com but the contact status remains
pending and the contact never receives a subscription notification from me
to accept into their contact list.  The results are the same when the
contact tries to add me to their contact list.  How can I successfully add
this type of contact to my contact list?
