I wanted to suggest that earlier, but it seemed like you wanted to
standardize the UI part, not the pubsub part, so I didn't bother with
the protocol ;-) This is an old protocol, though (introduced before we
had PEP, because we needed that for extended presence back then),
which is why it has been deferred. I think the new way of doing things
is to store private storage using PEP (i.e. using pubsub to store your
pubsub subscriptions ;-)).

But yes, in order to track your pubsub subscriptions in a standardized
way, we would need a protocol like that, either using iq:private, or
using PEP.
Of course, this relies on the fact that every pubsub client uses this.
