Just out of curiosity... why 96x96?

Pretty much my entire avatar collection is made up of 100x100 PNGs (those 
which aren't are things like 100x80 or 80x100.)  I assume clients are 
supposed to scale these for me, as I don't want to waste time scaling avatars 
myself, which I already took more than enough time to get right the first 
time.  I'm no graphics wizard here... ;-)

(My largest 100x100 PNG seems to come to around 7kb, so it will still fit in 
under 8kb easily.)
