Most prop. IM protocols have the concept of nickname and alias,
nickname being the one I want others to have me as default, and alias
the one others may rename me. Some do not have alias, but anyways, I
write about Jabber.
As client devs, we are interested to provide some cool stuff when
adding a new contact, including defaulting to desired nickname (and
not to abc from abc at server.org as many clients do).
Now such desired nickname is only found in vcard-temp which is temp so
I'm not sure it's the way to go (also with the wanna change of Peter
to make it NOT RECOMMENDED (from MUST NOT) for avatar size, I see a
vcard becoming so huge, that we cannot avoid a button "get desired
nickname" which is also not cool).
I may be missing something, but what is the best way to get the
desired nickname having a jid becuase I only imagine vcard-temp with
the problem above and with being a temp jep
This problem is not only for jabber2jabber but also for MSN/ICQ etc transports
