management model for publishing.

Again, I don't think that's a new access model.

It seems that you want a kind of pubsub-based content management system.
The way I see it, a CMS would do its thing and then interface with an
XMPP pubsub service (e.g., that's how we envision people doing things
like Atom over XMPP -- you'd interact with your blogging software,
preview things, etc., and then at the very end after you've hit Send
your blogging software would interact with a pubsub component).

But maybe I'm missing something.

No, you just republish the item and the old version is overwritten.
