We are working to set up a private network where servers and clients can
be tested over the 'net. But as a first step it was helpful to get
people in one place, meet each other, watch each other's debug output to
see what was going wrong, discuss some protocol issues over a high
bandwidth connection (i.e., in real life), etc. In fact we will be
holding more events like this in the future, not trying to do everything
over the 'net. But you don't have to show up at such events if you think
they are a waste of time and money.

The purpose of the test event was mostly to test servers, not clients.
We tested the servers whose developers were at the interop event. We
tested some clients as well, but that was not the focus for this first
event.

That will happen in the future.
