I had a similar yet different idea some time ago. This thread has got me
thinking about it again.
My idea was basically to extend jabber by specifying a means by which
the server would send the client on either end the necessary info to
establish a connection, etc.
You could certainly use Jingle for signaling, the underlying idea being
that it dosen't matter which game, or what port, that the client should
also have the ability to dynamically setup a game session with
user-specified values or preset defaults.
I guess something like this would probably fall under the Jingle
umbrella. I might write a JEP for such a content description format over
Jingle this weekend. :P
It would also definitely be intersting to also be able to use something
like PubSub so that any number of users could subscribe to, and watch a
chess game if the app were Jabber-aware :P
