Just a thought; would it be practical to specify that when
(namespace-)ill-formed XML is received, the connection should be
"rebooted" rather than closed?

By "rebooted" I mean that a new XML stream is started, but the state on
both sides of the connection is retained (so you aren't logged out,
etc.)
