This is a non-issue in that nodes and taxonomy are not mutually
exclusive. In Drupal, "everything" is a node. Each piece of content
is contained with a node and a node can be one of many different types
(blog post, page, and so on). Nodes may optionally be categorized
using the taxonomy structure, which can be a combination of
hierarchical or non-hierarchical (i.e. tagging).
That paragraph I just typed is one of those things that looks really
simple to grasp on the surface, but once you get into it you see it's
pretty deep and not that easy to understand at all. :) Hence,
Druapl's flexibility.
So to address your issue, everything will be categorized and probably
in several ways for maximum benefit to browsing and searching for the
users and us the content creators and administrators.
