Did you know the right button of the buttons group on the upper left is 
an overview?
You can see a miniature of the whole mindmap there and drag or klick 
anywhere to scroll.

You can also download the *.mm file and open it in the standalone 
client. http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Although  a new wiki page may be a good idea (but I have no permission 
to add new sites)
