Sounds verry nice. This service should be optional to every public 
server entry.
Apart from "warning" about future downtimes there should also be a way 
to inform the service on the fly about maintenance. maybe.
On the other hand - downtime is downtime. I hardly believe that users 
care about the reason for the downtime.

I like the idea.
