Hi all,

An example of what jabber.org can be is here:
http://www.jabberfr.org/
which the french-speaking Jabber community,
and a federation of resources for the french-speaking
Jabber servers administrators.

Though jabberfr.org has no Jabber server,
we have different services :
* A wiki based on Mediawiki

* A news and comments system based on WordPress
http://news.jabberfr.org/
* A planet based on Moonmoon
http://planet.jabberfr.org/
* A chatroom server based on MU-Conference

* A web-access for chatrooms based on MUCkl
http://chat.jabberfr.org/
* An IRC transport
xmpp:irc.jabberfr.org
* A Jabber User Directory (JUD) for all our federated servers
xmpp:users.jabberfr.org
* A file transfer proxy
xmpp:proxy.jabberfr.org
* A presence bot for web pages
xmpp:presence.jabberfr.org
* A notification and MUC bot for forum posts and wiki edits
xmpp:jabberfr at im.apinc.org

All of the software involved are free and open source software.

Maybe this is a good start for jabber.org.
