I'm not saying I don't like Peter as a leader for this. You just don't
need a leader to get directions. If anyone can focus on a project
(cfr. the teams) that helps Jabber, we will move forward in the right
direction. If you have people that do the right things, you don't need
a leader that says which things you have to do. A leader then is only
necessary to solve big problems: if too much people want to move in
the wrong direction.
For example, there are no leaders for the ejabberd website that say
what content should be made; we just add content, we don't discuss
about which content we need. Instead, we make the content and publish
it. It's always better to publish content of minor quality than
endless discussions about deciding what content is needed and in the
end produce nearly nothing. (also for the Coccinella website there is
no leader, though there are currently not so much different
contributors as on the ejabberd website because the site is still so
young)
So, IMO we should now focus on this roadmap:
1) define the key goal of the project
2) define the secondary goals of the project
3) let someone that has the skills and can admin this decide on which
infrastructure we need, *we* don't need to discuss this; let this
guy(s) decide this
4) let them set up this infrastructure
5) people in this list can start with a subproject they want...I for
example would like to start 2 projects: creating timelines of Jabber
software (goals: strengthen the community culture + provide some
information that can be used by other projects for their public
relations), and a project to share my knowledge on creating video
tutorials and tutorial writing in general (goal: provide projects the
knowledge to better target end users and businesses). Maybe in a later
stage I will also create or join projects related to traslations,
documentation, public relations, marketing, and so forth.
