I agree wholeheartedly with abolishing the evil field, but it does  
server a purpose. I propose having the opposite, which is to have an  
'arbitrary server' field, which most clients will tick (someone else  
will have a better suggestion for the name, I suspect), because it's  
true that there's no point deciding that this GTalk client sounds  
great if your account is on jabber.ex.ac.uk :)
