btw: you also can show all languages in the browser language.

Probably because some languages were added that are not easily to map
to country flags. I remember the same discussion was held several
years ago on some KDE mailing list regarding. KDE now has country
flags, but only for regional settings (like keyboard layout, time
zone, etc). If you select a country, you also get a list of official
languages of that country. But you still have to chose from this list.
The primary use for these flags is to set the *regional* settings
related to countries, there also is a separate list of languages
*without* flags.
