No one is talking about writing a replacement from scratch.  Instead of
maintaining a whole extra piece of software and trying to bridge it to
the existing site, having to write a Gallery2 theme to make it look like
our Drupal site, and having to maintain two themes instead of one, we
are considering simply using a module for our existing CMS that won't
need its own theme, integrates closely with everything else the CMS
does, and which benefits from our site documentation and update modules,
thus reducing maintenance considerably.

We are all volunteers, and we all have lives -- if we can find a more
efficient way of doing things, why shouldn't we?  What do you think
Gallery2 has to offer that we will miss out on?
