I agree  -this is why I don't want to start flamewars. But a comparison 
to well know techniques may position and explain jabber more clearly to 
some people, or make the advantages more visible than the 
"values-approch" as "freedom", "openness" and so on.
beause others have that, too.

This is also why I wouldn't even think about comparing it with closed  
protocols.

The thing is - I cannot compare xmpp with IRC or SIP, I have close to NO 
knowledge about the others.
