/me grumbles

BEGIN PASTE

Here we go:

- - The mentor who will have the student application assigned to her/him
should login to the SoC web app and request assignment of the
application. On the application view page, scroll to the bottom of the
comments on the application and tick the "I am willing to mentor this
application" box, then click "Add Comment" to submit. No actual comment
text is necessary, but this action will create a "blank" entry in the
comment log with just the new mentor's name.

- - Once this has been done, the organization administrator will then be
able to assign the application to the new mentor by visiting the
application view page, scrolling to the bottom and choosing the new
mentor from the drop down list under the "Mentor Assignment" section of
the page.

- - In the case where an application had a previously assigned mentor,
the former mentor can then visit the application view page and untick
the "I am willing to mentor this application" box. Clicking the "Add
Comment" button will remove the previous assignment request. Since
"allocated" applications are not permitted to be orphaned, this will
*only* work if another mentor has been assigned by the organization
administrator.
