This Jabber is on an intranet -- a firewalled, internal network.
So, whatever the problem is, it's my fault ;->

Is this on the same server or separate servers?
If one of the servers is jabber.org, it is possible you are hitting into
the current socket limit. It has yet to be determined if it is a bug in
the server (the s2s code not releasing sockets properly), or if it is a
(possibly unintentional) DoS.
