I don't like this idea very much. We should not start to make our
network even more dependant on any proprietary other network. We are
Jabber and we have to communicate, that we are something different than
just another multiprotocol client.
In fact with our transports that exist at present, users using Jabber as
a ICQ replacement or as a multi-protocol client are disappointed very
soon. The users we won, are at our network because we designed a good
own network.
Every simple ICQ-clone does handle ICQ better than Jabber (I am sorry to
say that), the only reason to use Jabber for multi-protocol at present
might be escaping a firewalled corporate network because the Jabber
protocol is much more tunnelling friendly, than others.
