[jdev] Reason for jingle/google talk inconsistency

I do not know, if this is the right place for this question, but I was
wondering for some time, what was the reason for making the jingle protocol,
while very similar to google sessions, different by only the name of XML
element and the namespace.

Actually, I do not see, how could google then change it all. Therefore, other
clients will support either both or just the google session, I guess.

If I'm completely mistaken, please excuse me and correct me.
Thank you.
