Exactly. So given XSD, you have ASN.1. In which case, it should  
become apparent that there's nothing particularly magical about ASN.1  
- it's not "self-validating", as such.

Sure it'd be nice to have normative schemas, but ASN.1 isn't anything  
to do with this.
