Technically I think once something goes up for vote, it must be voted
on as-is. However, the people who put an item up for vote can retract
it and resubmit a new item (effectively editing it) up until the
deadline for submitting items to vote.
as for your suggestion on an alternate look alike Jabber, that would
not address my concerns. The need for a term other than "Jabber" is
entirely one of marketing and differentiating the open standard from a
particular company. A look alike just makes it more confusing not less.
