+1. Thanks Ralph, I was afraid I was going to have to be the voice of
reason -- not something for which I'm terribly adept.

On a related note... aside from some poor reporting mentioned by Justin,
I've seen little evidence that the name has benefited any single company.
Nobody has every presented evidence of a sale lost to Jabber, Inc. --
along the same vein, nobody has presented evidence of Jabber, Inc. losing
a sale. The fact is, companies are unlikely to admit their failures when
they happen, and when they do happen, they're liking to go looking to
start finger pointing... "We did everything right, how did we lose that

The point is... until somebody is willing to offer proof, this is all just
speculation, and FUD. The community choose to keep the name. Some of those
that disagreed with this decision decided they didn't want to be part of
the community any longer. While this is unfortunate, it is an option.
There is nothing preventing those that feel that they are "doing more to
promote a company [they've] come to despise" from leaving the community
and starting their own, but understand that the majority in the community
voted to keep the name.

Can we please go back to concentrating on toppling the real enemies... the
proprietary IM systems run by Microsoft, AOL and Yahoo! We -- the Jabber
Software Foundation, Antepo, Winfessor, Jabber, Inc., etc. -- are all
working for the same goal.

All this infighting makes us look as ridiculous as the U.S. Democratic
party's presidential candidates.
