Thanks to help from Peter Millard and David Sutton, the xmpp.org Jabber
server is up and running, including chatrooms for all the IETF Working
Groups at the ietf.xmpp.org chat service (running mu-conference). For
the foreseeable future, the xmpp.org server will provide services only
(i.e., I do not envision opening it up to end-user accounts). More
information about the IETF chatrooms is here:

For now, <http://www.xmpp.org/> redirects to <http://www.jabber.org>. In
the Board meeting just finished, we discussed how to proceed with the
launch of www.xmpp.org. The conclusion we reached was that it would be
best to launch this website soon after the XMPP Internet-Drafts advance
to RFC. Although we hope that will happen in December, we really don't
know when it might happen. So the approach I would like to take is to
develop the website content and have it ready to go, so that we can just
"flip the switch" when we want to go live with the site. If you are
interested in helping to define the content or the backend database and
site code, please let me know and I will add you to the XMPP.ORG Team.
