I chose that name because of the old meaning of "Thing" as a kind of  
norse town meeting.

I'm sure we could contrive something for Maxim, the Monthly Assembly  
of XMPP Implementors and Members?

Or what about the Monthly Assembled Gathering of Implementors of  
XMPP, or Magix?

But I suspect what we really need is a topic, a time, and a chatroom.  
The name will come later.
