Maybe you should try these services for a while, I don't think it's
something someone can explain to you. I would personally recommend to
try all new services for a while, even if you don't agree with the
philosophies. How else can we build open alternatives if we don't
understand the closed ones? You can always unsubscribe after trying it
(like Peter did with LinkedIn and Facebook)

That said, I think we all agree on this thread. I'm sure Ludovic only
meant to do good for the XSF by creating the facebook page, I think
it's pretty clear that we don't want an 'official' facebook XSF page
(whatever that means), so let's just not call it an 'official' page.
