I think we all realise that I'm aiming at the Facebook's and Microsofts of the world who appear to be happy to use the protocol and benefit from the hard work of the community but aren't 'giving back' by playing the same game we all are, which is that it's widely accepted that XMPP deployments for end users are federated. 

The tag line is just meant to get people asking what I'm talking about but I agree it's less than ideal.
