In the style of release-early-release-often, I'm going to report on my
experiments in converting the current wordpress based XSF site to a
static site.

I've done an initial dump of the data and have converted the posts and
pages to markdown files. I used the wp2md tool (found here:
https://github.com/dreikanter/wp2md ) and the site is being generated
by using the Pelican tool
http://pelican.readthedocs.org/en/latest/getting_started.html

Once I tweak the theme and verify that all of the current wordpress
data is present and accurate, everything will go into the git repo and
I'll start working on the git commit-hooks to enable the publish steps.

Yes the theme is horrible and may visual elements need changing, but
that will be the next task.

I have a preview of it running at http://bear.im:8000/
