As a data point, people in the Twisted project have expressed that they
would like to have their #twisted room on FreeNode available as an XMPP
MUC. Moving over wholesale would be a pain for participants who are
strongly committed to IRC.

I liken this to our argument for federation in social networks: people
get to choose their preferred environment for interaction, while not
being shut out because it.
