This is exactly what I'm talking about. People vote different ways. Some
vote "no" on people who are not involved in the standards process. Some
vote "no" on people who aren't software devs. Some vote "no" on inactive
people. Some people may even vote "no" based on culture fit or even whether
they believe the other person likes them.

Honestly I don't think most people even have a codified criteria, (we hope)
they (at least) skim through the applications and consider people on their
merits.

Everyone here has been voted (almost all by overwhelming majority) to be
members. Even most new members get less than 90% "yes" votes, clearly
nobody here has any reason to be concerned over the criteria the <10% "no"
votes they get are excluding them by.

So don't get hung up on the few "no" votes. Use the time and energy
invested in this topic toward being more awesome.
