Running events is a lot of work and too often most of the weight falls on
the shoulders of one or two people.

After FOSDEM, the board unanimously decided to start a new working group to
manage events. The first major event for the new team will be PyCon 2017 in
Portland Oregon (USA) May 18-20, where we have a 9m² (10ft x 10ft) expo

Team membership is open to all XSF members. Attending specific conferences
is not required, much of the work for the team will be done before and
after events online.

*We have one free pass to PyCon 2017 remaining* for any XSF member who
wants to help with the booth. As general registration is now sold out, this
is the only way to attend PyCon 2017 if you are not already registered.

The team will also work to support local XMPP Meetups internationally,
which may include collecting decks and/or video from presentations for
sharing. Anyone hosting or planning to start a local meetup is highly
encouraged to join.
