jabber:iq:search must die. It gives nothing more than Ad-Hoc commands
(if you don't count all that legacy crap) and is not so flexible.

It does allow it:

    The <item/> element should be empty; it may contain CDATA or XML
    data, but such data must be ignored if an implementation does not
    understand it.
