Two (three?) of us believe UTF-8/Unicode is the way to go, however, two
(three?) of us are not the majority. I would also note we suggested that
support for the XML stream being in a different charset was also noted.

Is there something wrong with discussion even without clients? Better
prepared and forewarned...
