This is what jabberd 1.4.3's mod_groups is intended for. However,
mod_groups is unmaintained, has several minor bugs, and lacks proper
documentation. Also, mod_groups more or less re-implements mod_roster and
mod_presence which is not elegant. I think something along the lines of
pubsub ("Subscribe to a source of roster entries and permit this source to
change your roster directly") would be the way to go and would also be
VERY beneficial for transports. However, I don't know of anyone working on
