You are right that jabber.org seems to use a CVS snapshot of jabberd14
before jabberd 1.4.3 had been released - and that this old version of
jabberd14 allows "roster pushes" by transports.

But I want to add that in the repository of jabberd14 this has been
fixed some time ago and the upcoming jabberd 1.4.4 will not accept these
pushes.
