As many of you no doubt have heard (the news has been on Slashdot and
CNET), the IESG approved formation of an XMPP Working Group within the
IETF. The charter of this WG is to adapt the Jabber protocol for use as an
IETF Instant Messaging and Presence technology. This is a major step
forward for the Jabber community and will almost certainly lead to serious
consideration and even more significant adoption of Jabber technologies by
organizations throughout the world. Active members of the community are
encouraged to participate in the Working Group by signing up for the
XMPPWG mailing list. I wrote a brief announcement regarding the WG, which
you can find here:

We are still awaiting official notification from the IETF (which is why we
haven't publicized this more widely yet), however the XMPP WG is now on
the official list of WGs (http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/wg-dir.html)
and we expect the announcement to be made quite soon.

Also, yesterday I submitted new Internet-Drafts to the IETF. You may find
them at http://www.jabber.org/ietf/

Let me know if you have any questions.
