[Foundation] marketing ideas

I'm thinking it would good for the marketing committee to seek out ways in
which we can work with other projects. Adam Theo's work with DotGNU is a
good example here. JSF member Talli Somekh and I are also talking with the
folks at .LRN (http://dotlrn.mit.edu/) about integrating Jabber into their
open e-learning platform. I'm sure there are many such opportunities, from
big projects like Apache, GNOME, and KDE to smaller ones like tipjar.com
and .LRN. Maybe the marketing committee can come up with a list of such
projects. Anyone else have suggestions for such a list? They would not
have to be open-source projects but I think that's a good place to start.

Speaking of cooperation, I've been talking with Larry Lessig about his
Creative Commons project and ways that Jabber could make use of what he's
doing there. Specifically, he suggested that we might be able to protect
the Jabber protocol by putting it into an "intellectual property
conservancy" (http://www.creativecommons.org/concepts/#ip) and in his
words he is "very eager to work with you to see how best to do that". So
that's another kind of cooperation we might look into. I'll post more
extensively about the intellectual property conservancy idea in a few
days.
