[Foundation] Logo politicking (Iain gives it a go)

Hi all,

I'd like to throw in a couple thoughts that may sway a vote or two
(hopefully everyone hasn't already voted)... I intended to keep these
thoughts to myself but changed my mind after seeing people's comments on the

Light Bulb (entry #2)

I realize that the light bulb has historic significance to Jabber. It is
also familiar to existing JSF members and so is associated in your minds
with Jabber and IM/presence. However, I think any light bulb increases the
existing confusion regarding the relationship between Jabber Inc (JINC)
which uses a light bulb in it's logo and the JSF.

The JSF is an entirely separate entity from JINC. I feel adding to this
confusion would dilute the JSF brand. This ambiguity may also make it more
difficult for the JSF (and JINC) to prosecute infringements.

Jabber (or a J) as central logo theme (entry #1 and #5)

We may need to do a lot of branding around "XMPP". For example, the
compliance group is creating compliance tests for "XMPP compliance".
Creating a derivative logo for that program may be difficult/confusing if
"Jabber" is built too deeply into the logo.
